Curcumin is a healing powerhouse—if only it could survive the journey through your body. Now, a green nanocarrier made from Amazonian ingredients might finally let it shine.

Curcumin, the golden polyphenol from turmeric, has long been celebrated for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory powers. But there's a catch: it dissolves poorly, degrades quickly, and barely reaches the cells that need it. Scientists have now built a clever workaround—a nanostructured lipid carrier named Jamamina, inspired by nature and designed for real-world use.

Jamamina blends curcumin with a Natural Deep Eutectic Solvent (NaDES) made from malic acid and betaine, plus Amazonian tucumã butter and jambu oil. This eco-friendly combo achieved over 80% encapsulation efficiency and turned curcumin into an amorphous form, boosting its solubility and stability in water.

In lab tests with L132 cells, Jamamina showed strong antioxidant activity, slashed pro-inflammatory cytokines like TNF-α and IL-6, and boosted the anti-inflammatory IL-10. It also curbed MMP-2/9 enzymes and kept cell skeletons intact under oxidative stress.

This isn't just another nanocarrier—it's a sustainable platform that could unlock curcumin's clinical potential for inflammatory and redox-related conditions.
