Researchers tested innovative extraction methods—including microwave, homogenization, ultrasound, and high hydrostatic pressure—paired with various solvents like ethanol, methanol, and Natural Deep Eutectic Solvents (NADES).
The magic ingredient? NADES mixtures, specifically choline chloride-caffeic acid and choline chloride-lactic acid, delivered the best extraction efficiency. Among all tested methods, homogenization emerged as the ultimate champion for extracting these precious phenolics.

The study also reviewed microencapsulation and nanoemulsion formulations, which successfully protected the extracts.
