Rice bran is a humble byproduct, but it's packed with health-boosting compounds like γ-oryzanol and α-tocopherol. The challenge has always been getting them out efficiently. This study pits a modern technique—supercritical carbon dioxide extraction (SCC)—against the old-school method of simple maceration (SPM). The results are striking: SCC finishes in 90 minutes, while SPM drags on for 7 days. And the modern method doesn't just save time; it delivers more. SCC yields significantly higher amounts of γ-oryzanol (2,096.34 mg%) and α-tocopherol (27.42 mg%) compared to SPM (1,828.28 mg% and 23.22 mg%, respectively).
